Description:
A compound word is created when two words are joined together to form a new word. This activity teaches compound words using movable and speaking buttons. It is designed for each part of the compound word to be spoken and for the new word to be spoken when the correct match is made. To teach the compound words, leave the default Highlight Button setting (found under Dynamic Boards in the pull-down menu) to a frame width of 5 and the color red. (This gives a cue to what 2 words create the new compound word.) To test comprehension, change the Highlight Button setting (found under Dynamic Boards in the pull-down menu) to a frame width of 0. (That removes the cue.) This activity is intended to be paired with my Compound Word Magnets and Inkjet Decal activity that teaches the same set of compound words using tabletop materials.
